Panel on digital safety and physical neighbourhood safety POSTPONED
Various studies have been conducted into the relationship between the offline physical neighbourhood and the online digital neighbourhood. This shows that social interactions between residents can improve local social relations in a neighbourhood.
While these interactions, both online and offline, can give meaning to a neighbourhood, they can also have negative effects, damaging the digital and physical safety of residents. For example, the damage from cyber bullying or online threats that affect the physical space and physical bullying that manifests itself via online platforms.
Within the panel, the Dutch national anti-racism coordinator Mr. Rabin S. Baldewsingh, a consultant & author of a report on sexual exposing from media & society consultancy bureau EMMA, and lector (professor) Media, Culture and Citizenship Joke Hermes of Inholland hogeschool will therefore discuss how both digital safety and physical neighbourhood safety can be stimulated.
The event is organised by the EU-funded European Observatory of Online Hate project (https://eooh.eu).
