Evaluation of the assessing patients medication self-management materials

The Assessment of Self-Management of Medication (in Dutch: Beoordeling Eigen Medicatie BEM) materials support healthcare professionals in various healthcare organizations with the regular assessment of whether there are problems with patients' medication self-management. In this project we are evaluating the usability of the materials.

Objective

We evaluate the experiences and perceptions of home care professionals about the BEM materials.

Results

Home care professionals indicates that the BEM materials help assess a patients’ ability to self-manage medication. But there is still insufficient knowledge of the working method among some, indicating the need for clear working procedures and training.

01 January 2024 - 01 January 2025

Approach

Interviews were held with 21 nurses and quality employees from 9 home care organizations. The interviews revealed experiences and recommendations for improving the materials.
