Meaningful aging

In this project, stories are collected from people in the third and fourth phase of life. Do people manage to lead a meaningful life at a later age, with increasing vulnerability? What is needed for this and what is an obstacle? In people's stories, answers are sought to these questions, whereby the context is also considered: background, environment and society.

Objective

The objective is to gain insight into meaning-making in the third and fourth phases of life.

Results

The results are a publication with stories from elderly people about what meaningful aging means to them and what we can learn from this.

Duration

01 September 2024 - 31 December 2025

Approuch

The approach is that 20 elderly people of various ages and backgrounds are interviewed. The interviews are processed into 10-15 stories.

"There is still a great deal of cultural reluctance in society about growing older. In this project we investigate the question of how people give meaning to this phase of life."

Annemiek Tuinhof de Moed, Manager NUZO: Network Utrecht Care Elderly.

Impact
