NeuroNetwork

Neurocriminology is the study of neurobiological (e.g. brain development, heart rate) and neuropsychological (e.g. impulsivity) influences on criminal behaviour. These measures will be applied in forensic care settings in the following years. Although students, teachers, and professionals express a need for neurocriminological competences, none of the relevant education programs currently fill this need. Students in the NeuroNetwork will therefore pioneer in these innovations in forensic care.

Objective

Students, teachers, professionals and neuroscientists pioneer in implementing neurocriminology in the NeuroNetwork. They’ll learn the necessary competences in a learning community, immediately when the first innovations are implemented in forensic care settings.

Results

The NeuroNetwork will consist of forensic care professionals, teachers and students. Together they will discover which competences are necessary for the future and learn these competences.

Approuch

The NeuroNetwork is a learning community in which students are the linkin pin between education, research and practice. In an iterative process the NeuroNetwork will be constantly updated with state-of-the-art knowledge from education, research and practice.

Impact on education

One of the main aims of the NeuroNetwork is to connect education, research and practice. Results will therefore immediately contribute to all three pillars. Students will be better equipped for their future jobs, research will be more closely related to needs from practice and all parties will profit from state-of-the-art knowledge.
