On the move paediatric physiotherapist 2040

Children with disabilities want to play and participate in sports with other children, but unfortunately, they do this too little. Pediatric physiotherapists are the movement experts for children with disabilities and can support them in participating in play and sports. Pediatric physiotherapists themselves indicate that they need the following to do this better: 1) more collaboration with other professionals and 2) guiding the child and the parents towards changing their behavior.

Objective

The goal of this research project is to support pediatric physiotherapists in establishing collaborations and guiding behavior change processes so that they can better assist children with disabilities in increasing their physical activity within their own environment.

Results

During this project, we are gaining insights into how pediatric physiotherapists can support children with disabilities to increase their physical activity within their own environment. We are also developing a continuing education course on collaboration and behavior change for pediatric physiotherapists, and we are creating a digital platform in collaboration with various partners.

Duration

01 September 2023 - 31 August 2025

Approach

We are conducting a review and a Delphi study to gain more insights into behavior change by pediatric physiotherapists. Additionally, we are developing a continuing education and development platform for pediatric physiotherapists in collaboration with various partners, including experts by experience and parents.
