Carmen Paalman
Carmen Paalman PhD (1977) conducts research into the Person-Specific Approach (PGA) for young adults with complex problems. This approach involves the close collaboration of municipal and healthcare institutions and security officials in order to prevent recidivism.
She obtained her master’s degree in Social Cultural Sciences and subsequently conducted her doctoral research on the subject of delinquency among the youth of Moroccan descent. She has also studied the reintegration process for perpetrators of High Impact Crimes in Rotterdam. Since 2016, she has been conducting PGA research within the Research Group Public health and public safety.
In addition to conducting research, she works as a lecturer for the Societal Security Workshop (2nd year Social Work programme) and is involved in research-education and the development of the 'forensic accent'. She also supervises Social Work students and Forensic Professional Master students with their graduation assignments.
