I decided for this Master because of the clear focus on sustainability and the very practical approach. The classes are taught in an interactive and engaging way, the assignments have a clear connection to the professional field and there is a lot of room to become creative.
My aim in this master is to gain thorough expertise on very different sustainability related topics. We focus for example on sustainable transformations of supply chains, inclusive business models, and on the role of technology and the ethical questions that come with it. At the same time, useful methods are taught. For instance, we learn how design thinking works or how to create potential scenarios of the future.
While finding housing in Utrecht is difficult, once you succeed, it is a lively and beautiful city to live in. There are a lot of opportunities to enjoy different activities after class and the campus also offers some bars and a variety of food stalls. The university building is very modern, and you always find a place to study together with your fellow students.
"I did not know what that meant; what is ‘being sustainable’ and how can I help change the world?"
Milan (24)Netherlands
I chose this programme because I often hear people say that they want to be ‘more sustainable’ or make a change in this world, and I do too. However, I did not know what that meant; what is ‘being sustainable’ and how can I help change the world even if it might just be a tiny part of it?
During this programme we learn about supply chains, packaging, the circular economy, the plastic soup, and so much more. All of these in details which I previously thought were already known to me!
Furthermore, we learn about applying concepts and we work with various clients to practise and actively experience how things work in the field. We take a look at the past and we take a look at the future of how our world might look like in the upcoming years.
I am very happy to have found a programme with enthusiastic people and which teaches me how to become a professional in the field of ecological and social sustainability. For me personally I see opportunities in eventually becoming a Chief Sustainable Officer, and if not I am just glad to have become so aware of what is really going on in our world!
