One Stop CLIL Europe

Content and Language Integrated Learning, CLIL, is an educational approach in which subject content and a foreign language are taught simultaneously. In this project we want to develop a school-wide approach (incl. toolbox) around CLIL for primary and secondary education in Europe, and thus contribute to high-quality education.

Aim

The project strengthens the integrated provision of language and content education from CLIL. It can motivate teachers to do more with this approach, or to use it even better or more widely in their educational practice. Students benefit from this in both their language and content knowledge development.

Results

A comprehensive digital and online package consisting of a position paper, a classroom guide for school teams, a framework of quality assurance guidelines for schools, questionnaires for schoolteams, in-service training for entire school teams, and case studies.

Duration

01 January 2023 - 31 December 2025

Approach

We are working on a school-wide approach to CLIL in four work together with partner schools in Belgium, Spain, France, Estonia and the Netherlands.

Impact on Education

The project can strengthen CLIL education in particular, and language-sensitive education more generally, in primary and secondary schools. With a strengthened repertoire, teachers can in turn better promote the language and cognitive development of students. In addition, the project can provide valuable input for teacher training and thus for prospective teachers.
