SCreen & INtervene

Although the number of delinquent youths has declined, recidivism remains a problem with high recidivism rates among youth after detention. Whereas many youth profit from forensic care, the effectiveness still needs to be improved.

Objective

The goal of SCIN is to improve screening and intervention in forensic care, by integrating neurobiological and neuropsychological measures to the standard psychosocial measures.
This will make it possible to investigate which biopsychosocial developmental profiles can be identified. This information in turn will be used to support forensic care professionals in decisions on personalized intervention programs.

For more information see: SCIN (Screen & Intervene) - NeuroLabNL

The research group Public Health and Public Safety works within SCIN to increase biopsychosocial knowledge among the involved professionals. Moreover, we will develop training for professionals in using the decision support tool.

Results

The research group Public Health and Public Safety will:

  • Increase biopsychosocial knowledge of professionals
  • Develop training for using the decision support tool

Approuch

We use action research to ensure that the biopsychosocial knowledge aligns well with the needs and requirements of the professionals.

Impact on education

To ensure that initial education also benefits, the NeuroNetwork is being established. In this network, professionals learn together with students and teachers about the biopsychosocial knowledge of antisocial and criminal behavior.
