Edwin Nieman is associated as a coach and lecturer with the Ecological Educational Theory full-time degree programme. He is specifically interested in projects that focus on connecting people and recovery-oriented activity. Working within the Educational Community Work domain, he constantly looks for concrete and practical opportunities to connect residents’ experience of their world with a variety of organisations.
As a representative of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Edwin is associated with Amersfoort’s Youth and Education Implementation Programme. In this programme, professionals and partners in the relevant domains make an integrated, joint effort to promote a positive educational climate in the city. One subject that is researched in this context is segregation within primary education in the Amersfoort neighbourhood of Soesterkwartier.
In addition, Edwin is involved in the DURF project in Leidsche Rijn, Vleuten-de Meern. In this project, HU students support and facilitate local youth in developing their talents. If young people participate in and actively contribute to society from an early age, this can continue to have a positive impact for years to come. The DURF team works together with a variety of organisations in the neighbourhood and the Municipality of Utrecht.
Edwin also works as a coach within the FLOW minor, which pays considerable attention to positive psychology, personal leadership, exercise, yoga, nature and learning by playing!
