Population ageing is creating a capacity shortage in the care sector. People need care for longer periods than before, while there are fewer people to provide these services. In addition, the sick and elderly are developing different care requirements: a lot of people want to determine more aspects of their life themselves and remain in their own homes longer. Technology is developing at a lightning speed and presents both opportunities and limitations.
"Technology is creating new options for the care sector. This is what drives Helianthe Kort in her research"
Prof. Kort is an expert in the influence of technology on the work of care professionals and their clients. This includes aspects like IT, as well as structural properties like light, heat, moisture and sound. These factors affect the well-being of hospital users, for example.
