Hugo Mulder is enthusiastic about teaching high school students, focusing on the mathematical skills that are crucial for success in their later working life. As a junior researcher, he is therefore exploring which mathematical skills are essential in professional practice. His goal is to support his students and contribute to the improvement of the educational curriculum.
Hugo received his master's degree in Stochastic and Financial Mathematics at the University of Amsterdam and also obtained his teaching qualification during his studies. He has been teaching at Het Zaanlands Lyceum, a secondary school for senior general secondary education (havo) and pre-university education (vwo) since 2016. In addition to his work as a teacher, he contributes to the education sector in several roles. Since August 2023, he has been a member of the Mathematics A/C Examination Committee at the ministry and as of September 2024 he is a member of the board for secondary education at the teachers’ union AOb. Additionally, he was a member of the team responsible for revising the national mathematics curriculum for primary and secondary education (kerndoelen Rekenen-Wiskunde) at SLO, a role he fulfilled successfully until September 2024.
