Lisette van der Poel PhD graduated in developmental psychology in 1994 with a research thesis on play in the behaviour of children, entitled Play: a study into the observation of play and the relationships between play, creativity, leisure and parental attitudes. After many years of teaching and various publications on the value of play in the education and care of children, she became a co-developer and later the programme manager of the full-time Bachelor of Pedagogy at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. She subsequently became the cluster manager of Pedagogy and Social Work programmes at Inholland University of Applied Sciences. She currently works as a senior lecturer at the Institute for Ecological Pedagogy at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and as a researcher for the Research group Youth.
