Machil Deinum has been involved within the research group since the academic year of 2021-2022. He joined as a specialist in the field of neurodiversity. In addition to his work as a researcher, he is a policy officer for students with special needs at Hogeschool Utrecht. He works from experience and knows what it is like to learn and study with multiple versions of neurodiversity in the Dutch educational climate. Because of his experiences in his work als a social worker he specialized in young people with a form of Neurodiversity. His mission is to make education truly accessible and equal for everyone. So that a 10-year-old version of himself can have a fun, pleasant and normal school time.
He is currently investigating the needs of the different subgroups within the neurodiversity spectrum with regard to information and assessment facilities in education. What obstacles do people have to face and how could these be removed in an inclusive manner.
