Marion Uitslag

Researcher

After completing the hbo-level Social Work with the Disadvantaged and Social Work degree programmes, Marion Uitslag worked for an extended term as a social worker at the forensic psychiatric observation clinic Pieter Baan Centrum. During this period, she studied Dutch Law at Utrecht University. Since 2001, she has been working as an MfN-registered mediator and court mediator for the courts of Midden-Nederland, Overijssel and Gelderland. Marion specialises in mediation for clients in the private sector, professional service providers, the public and semi-public sectors and within criminal law.

At HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Marion bears responsibility for a number of modules in the field of Conflict Management and Mediation. She also works as a trainer in the Mediation minor, and coordinates the summer course ‘Conflict Resolution and Mediation Skills’. She gives trainings in the Netherlands and abroad and has contributed to a variety of conferences in the field of mediation and conflict management.

In the period May 2009-December 2010, Marion served as a project leader for the SIA RAAK study ‘Versterking van professionele handelwijzen’ (‘Reinforcement of professional procedures’) carried out under the aegis of the Research centre for Social Innovation at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. She is also involved in the on-going SIA RAAK study ‘Strafrechtmediation: geborgd in kwaliteit’ (‘Mediation in criminal law: safeguarded in quality’). This study is being performed within the Research groups Access to Justice and Working with Mandated Clients.
