Ruben Derycke has been working as a teacher-researcher at the Research Group Multilingualism and Education at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences since September 2024. He wants to make the connection between knowledge of multilingualism and inclusivity in education on the one hand, and the practice within the science subjects N&T and geography in teacher training on the other hand.
Richtext
Ruben Derycke has been training (future) teachers in science-related subjects since 2014. First as an educator at the Flemish Public Observatories, then as a training teacher in S&T at the Ghent University of Applied Sciences, and since February 1, 2021 he has been working as a teacher trainer in Science Education, Technology and Geography at the Institute for Education and Orthopedagogy of the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and the academic teacher training program at Utrecht University.
His motivation is to make scientific knowledge accessible, and even more so to make the scientific method accessible. Broadening society's interest in science and technology is the key to solving tomorrow's problems. Inclusive (and multilingual) science education starts with properly training future teachers.
