Ruben Stekelenburg has been working as a PhD candidate within the research group Innovation in Movement Care since August 2023. His doctoral research, titled 'Data-Driven Cardiac Rehabilitation,' focuses on utilizing data to assist healthcare providers and heart patients in making treatment decisions during (outpatient) cardiac rehabilitation.

Prior to his position as a PhD candidate, Ruben was affiliated with the research group as a research assistant and worked as a physiotherapist in a primary care physiotherapy practice. During that period, Ruben completed the Master's program in Physiotherapy Science with a minor in applied data science, enabling him to commence his doctoral trajectory.
Using technology, Ruben aims to enhance physiotherapeutic care, benefitting both patients and physiotherapists.
