Winnifred Wijnker

Researcher

Winnifred Wijnker has been working as a senior researcher within the research groups Human Experience & Media Design and Quality Journalism in Digital Transition since January 2024. She performs both qualitative and quantitative research and is competent in media analysis. Her research interests include image perception in visual media, ranging from comics and datavizualizations to video and VR/AR in journalism, educational contexts and (science) communication.

Before, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Science Communication & Society of Leiden University and did research on debunking misleading graphs. She did her PhD project at Utrecht University researching film for science education for interest development. She has been teaching in the master Science Education & Communication of Utrecht University and the course Scientific Narration & Communication in the master Science Communication & Society at Leiden University. Winnifred also worked as editor/producer at the Dutch public broadcasting company NTR.
