Enrol in a truly international Teacher Education programme

Would you like to attend an international-orientated, English-based Teacher Education programme in a modern foreign language? Then HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht is the place to be. Join young people from over 40 different countries and earn your teaching qualification in English, Spanish, German or French.

After completing the four-year programme, you will be allowed to teach your subject at a grade-two level in the Netherlands. You can teach pupils in lower classes of senior general secondary education (havo), university preparatory education (vwo) and pupils in preparatory secondary vocational education (vmbo) or senior secondary vocational education (mbo).

In addition, after you complete the bachelor programme Teacher Education in German or English you can continue with a master’s degree. This will earn you a grade-one level qualification that authorises you to teach pupils in higher classes of senior general secondary education (havo) and university preparatory education (vwo).

Bachelor’s degree programmes

In the Teacher Education programmes you will be instructed in both English and your chosen language. You learn more about the language and culture of the subject you will be teaching. On top of that, you will do an internship in the education sector in the Netherlands. After completing the programme, you will have a grade-two level teaching qualification in the subject of your choice, as well as an English-language International Diploma Supplement (IDS), which is accepted by institutions outside the Netherlands.

You can also chose to study this programme part-time.

Double degree

For ambitious students this course provides the unique opportunity to opt for a five-year alternative that leads to a double bachelor’s degree in two Teacher Education programmes (for example English & German). You will have an additional workload of about eight to ten hours a week.
