"Through the Master of Engineering, I have greatly developed my analytical skills and gained broad, in-depth knowledge of new technologies and possibilities."

When I started working at BAM Groep NV in 2005, I quickly became involved with BIM: Building Information Modeling. In other words: virtual construction. When it was time to conduct my research during the Master of Engineering, I also focused on BIM. I mapped out all the important facets and aspects of transitioning an organisation to the BIM approach and assessed the consequences.
I proposed a methodology that resonated with BAM, and eventually made us one of the frontrunners in the field of BIM. I also won the Tim Zaal Thesis Award for my research, which was incredibly rewarding. Thanks to the education and award, I was able to develop into a multidisciplinary project manager in the construction sector.
"In addition to gaining subject-specific knowledge, this master's programme also focuses on developing essential soft skills, such as self-reflection, communication and presentation."
Yamilla Stöcker
At the start of the programme, I was working as a Supply Chain Manager at the Royal Navy (Koninklijke Marine). However, I realised that I lacked the necessary knowledge of maintenance and maintenance processes to optimize the logistics of our maintenance organisation. The curriculum of the Master of Engineering provides a comprehensive framework, beneficial even for experienced asset management professionals. It also places significant emphasis on the soft skills required in an asset management role, such as self-reflection, communication and presentation. This truly adds value to the programme.
Since October 2023, I have been working as an Asset Management Consultant at Bilfinger/Stork. I am able to apply knowledge I gained during the programme, from drafting strategic asset management plans to creating long-term maintenance plans.
The Master’s degree has been rewarding for me. Although my initial goal was to broaden my knowledge to become a better Supply Chain Manager, I soon realised I wanted to apply my newly acquired knowledge. In my current role, I assist our clients in deriving more value from their assets.
"The art is to generalise as many processes as possible, which ultimately allows you to work more efficiently and cost-effectively."

I was 27 and a design leader at BAM Infratechniek Mobiliteit. I chose this master's programme because I saw it as a challenge to grow both theoretically and practically. This education has opened doors for me and made me more business oriented. For example, I can inform other people better about the benefits of multidisciplinary and integrated work.
Because I have dealt with tender procedures in various roles, I saw that these projects at BAM could be improved. More efficient, cost-effective, and with a higher chance of winning the contract. It seemed like a great problem statement to use for my thesis project. In the end, I proposed the creation of a new organisation, which is based on the functions required to handle the tender. BAM implemented this and it proved to be successful.
