Innovative living arrangements for seniors: best solutions in housing, well-being and care

Picture of an elderly and a younger woman in the backyard

The Netherlands face a significant and urgent challenge in the field of housing, care, and the elderly. Local parties must work on suitable housing solutions for seniors with or without (intensive) care needs. What inspiring initiatives can we find in the Netherlands, and what can we learn from them? That is the central question in this project.

Aim

The aim of the project is to share best practices, inspire, and promote knowledge exchange.

The project is part of the national movement ‘Growing Older 2040,’ which works to develop a socially supported vision and transformation agenda for the future of the aging society in the Netherlands. BeBright is a co-initiator and driving force. Stakeholders include the Ministries of Health, Welfare, and Sport (VWS), and the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK), as well as Aedes, ActiZ, housing corporations, investors, and citizen organizations.

Duration

01 August 2024 - 01 July 2025

Approuch

In collaboration with the initiator BeBright, we will conduct qualitative research on 15 innovative housing-care initiatives. We identify how (unintended) system barriers have been resolved, as well as how the conditions for these solutions can be realized in practice.
