Researcher

Berber Dorhout has worked as a researcher in the Research group Innovation of Movement Care since 2021. She focuses on the implementation of ProMuscle in Practice: a lifestyle intervention for older adults, in which resistance exercise and protein intake are combined.

Berber is a food scientist by background. She completed the Bachelor of Nutrition and Health in 2014, after which she specialized in Epidemiology and Public Health during the Master. During her PhD program, she studied the potential of nutrition and exercise in improving physical functioning and independence of older adults. Her research was mainly focused on ProMuscle in Practice, a lifestyle intervention targeting older adults. In January 2022 she successfully defended her PhD thesis at Wageningen University.

She combines her current position at the Research group Innovation of Movement Care with her position as a researcher at the Department of Human Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University. Within both positions she works on the sustainable implementation of ProMuscle in the practice setting.
