Daan Andriessen PhD has been a professor in Research Competence since 2013. This HU-wide research group is concerned with the professionalisation of practice-based research in higher professional education and with the education of professional research competence.
Daan Andriessen was trained as a social scientist and methodologist at VU Amsterdam. He obtained his doctoral degree at Nyenrode Business University in 2003. From 2003-2013 he was a professor in Intellectual Capital at Inholland University of Applied Sciences. He regularly acts as a speaker at conferences and gives training courses and workshops to lecturers about conducting research.

Daan was a member of the Vereniging van Lectoren (Association of Professors) and of the Forum for Practice-Based Research, a platform for lecturers in the Netherlands. Under his auspices, a Code of Conduct for Practice-Based Research in higher professional education was drawn up in 2010, and in 2017 he co-wrote the Dutch Code of Conduct for Scientific Integrity.
