Karla Münzel has been working as a researcher at the Centre of Expertise Smart Sustainable Cities since November 2022 and conducts research into making the mobility system more sustainable and the mobility transition.

Karla has more than 10 years of research experience in (inter)national research projects in the field of sustainable mobility innovations and has obtained her PhD at Utrecht University on the topic of upscaling of carsharing. Current research projects focus on shared mobility, mobility hubs and inclusivity. She teaches mobility related topics in the Bachelor Built Environment of the HU.
Karla is mainly concerned with research into mobility innovations that change the modal split and get people out of private cars: shared mobility, MaaS, mobility hubs. She always examines the mobility transition in conjunction with spatial planning and the energy system and pays attention to the inclusiveness of mobility innovations.
