Dr. Marieke Zielhuis MSc studied Industrial Design Engineering and obtained a doctoral degree on the topic of the contribution by design research projects to professional designers. Her research focuses on the learning processes at the boundary between research and professional practice, and on the ways of working which support this learning.
Since Marieke joined HU University of Applied Sciences in 2002, she has been working on the boundary between education, research and professional practice, such as in education programs for practitioners, at Centre of Expertise Creative Industries UCREATE, at Centre of Expertise Smart Sustainable Cities, and as research project leader. She is part of the research group Research Competence since 2019.
Marieke is researcher within various projects. She is a member of the expertise group on research within the Teaching and Learning Network. Furthermore, she is active within the Network of Applied Design Research to increase the quality and visibility of applied design research in the Netherlands.
