Remco Coppoolse PhD studied Physiotherapy, Science of Human Movement and Educational Studies and has earned a doctorate for his research into Innovation in Education. The central theme in his work is how innovation leaders can guide a change initiative towards good results. Remco leads a research programme in the Research group Value-oriented Professionalisation.
As an education innovator, over the past 20 years Remco has observed the specific dynamic of innovation in the education sector with some amazement: witnessing how quickly enthusiasm can turn to a sense of being hassled. Education innovators get stuck in the innovation process because things turn out differently than expected. For Remco, all the more reason to make an in-depth study of this dynamic and its underlying mechanisms. He was conferred a doctorate for his research in this field.
The past few years, he has combined his work as a consultant and researcher with providing guidance and support to education innovation project leaders in the higher vocational education sector. He also organises training activities for project leaders, line managers and other education innovation leaders from other education sectors – working both from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and his own consultancy. This combination of consultancy and research activities allows him to continue developing his knowledge and learning about education innovation in practice.
