Sanne Nijenhuis

PhD candidate
Sanne Nijenhuis is a PhD candidate connected to the research groups Driving Educational Change, Working in Education and Value-oriented Professionalisation. His research aims to think through the implications of non-human-centered philosophy to address the complexity of pedagogical issues in a meaningful way.

Sanne is also educator at the master’s programme in Pedagogy, where he supports students in developing sustainable change in pedagogical practice. As a drama therapist in youth care, he experienced that complex issues are often approached as problems of individuals. Sanne specialised in human and organisational behaviour, learning to work with the complexity of issues.

"Education and parenting do not take place on the sidelines of the world but are right in the middle of it."

Sanne Nijenhuis
PhD candidate for the research groups Value oriented Professionalisation, Working in Education and Driving Educational Change

According to ecological pedagogy, the world in which people grow up is inherently complex. This requires pedagogical professionals to develop an attitude of wonder to keep approaching these kinds of issues from curiosity. By combining education and research, Sanne aims to initiate a rich dialogue between science and practice.
